A career with Richardson Jones

Introduction

Richardson Jones was formed in 1987 following the dissolution of Richardson Dawson & Co. The firm today operates from offices in Marlow, Buckinghamshire.

The partners strongly believe that our employees are the biggest asset of the firm  and we take great pride in the professional and friendly way in which all members of the firm carry out their respective roles.

A strong emphasis is put on an 'open door policy' whereby partners are accessible to all members of staff. We believe that this has helped create strong lines of communication and ensures that problems are sorted out at an early date.

Recruitment

At Richardson Jones we do not have a fixed recruitment policy. We like to be flexible so that if a strong candidate comes along, we are always willing to consider them, even if we are not actively recruiting.

Current vacancies: none

We do not currently have any specific vacancies.

Salaries

Salary is a major issue for employees, whether they are starting or progressing their career. We review salaries at least annually, in April of each year, with interim reviews if appropriate.

In addition to basic salary we operate a bonus scheme to reward our staff with a share of our profits.

Pensions

We run an optional stakeholder pension scheme into which employees can contribute direct or where salary can be sacrificed for the contribution to the scheme. We contribute the employer's National Insurance, thus maximising the benefit of this arrangement. It is fully portable should you wish to move on, and can accept transfers from other pension arrangements should you wish.

Flexibility

We have found that people benefit from a more flexible approach to working hours and we are happy to consider an individual’s circumstances and accommodate their needs where possible. Staff access their work computer remotely, enabling them to work from home if necessary.

Holidays

We provide 20-25 paid working days holiday in addition to bank holidays, depending on your level of qualification. If you are considering taking more than two weeks’ off work then you must request partner approval.

We are flexible as to when holidays are taken, provided we are given sufficient notice.

Professional training

We place great store on the quality of our staff and provide help and support with on-going studying and obtaining of professional qualifications. To this end we are an accredited training office with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales.

All our employees are given an opportunity to develop their career, whether as an ACA, ACCA, AAT, ATT or other related qualification.

All professional staff follow a continuing professional education plan, which is discussed and agreed annually.

Technical support

We maintain a comprehensive library on all relevant subjects. We always encourage open discussion on technical issues amongst members of the practice, including partners.

New technology

The firm is committed to investing in and using the latest technology wherever possible. Each member of staff is provided with a desktop computer, email and internet access. Laptops are used extensively for work at clients' premises and staff can access their computers remotely. We use on-line filing facilities where possible.

Social activity

All employees and partners (and their life partners) get together for the firm’s Christmas party, which is usually a lunch at a local restaurant.

In addition we organise other ad hoc social events during the year, such as 10-pin bowling following by an Indian or Mexican meal.
